Since the construction of the Karnapuri River Tunnel in Bangladesh, it has been attracting international attention. With the successful completion of the two-track project, XCMG’s complete set of road construction and maintenance equipment quickly relayed, and used high-quality asphalt pavement construction equipment and technologies to help build demonstration projects.
The Kanapuri River runs from north to south through the economic center of Bangladesh, the city of Chittagong, dividing it in two. Due to the requirements of navigation, the river mouth is not suitable for building bridges, so the tunnel under the river becomes the best solution to crack the traffic in the southeast of the country. As an important part of the Bangladesh-China-India-Myanmar Economic Corridor, the project will promote connectivity between Bangladesh and China, Myanmar and India.
It is very difficult to build a two-way four-lane tunnel at a depth of more than 40 meters in the estuary where seawater and river water meet. Due to the extremely complex local weather, heavy rainfall in the rainy season, changeable geology, and extremely difficult road construction, the requirement of “design life of 100 years” puts forward extremely high requirements on the durability of paving materials and the reliability of construction quality .
At the construction site, XCMG’s 3000-type asphalt mixing station, paver RP953T, double drum roller XD143, synchronous sealer XTF1003, and tire rollers XP303KS and XP261 were all dispatched, realizing a large assembly of construction equipment for the entire life cycle of the road.
The local staff said: “The project is completely designed in accordance with Chinese standards. XCMG equipment is used for the whole series of processes from raw material production to paving and compaction. The complete set is very strong and the coordination is efficient. I believe we will be able to open to traffic soon.”
In 2021, XCMG’s road rollers and pavers will have the largest export share in China, and the sales of motor graders, milling machines, asphalt stations, and plant mixing stations will continue to increase, which are widely used in local infrastructure construction such as the Padma Bridge. Further promote the prosperity and development of the regional economy.
